Hiyas! *SUPER TEN BAZILLION XMAS HUGS!* OMG I feel like SCROOGE! I haven't been on in ages and I still don't have time to type a real entry! *feels pathetic* I'm up at my aunt's house, because WI has crappy internet like you WOULD NOT BELIEVE! The dial-up is so slow that it can't even load my friends page! How lame is that? Anyways, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know this is no time to be talking fandoms, but I totally need to tell you about this viewtifully FANTASMAGORICAL author called Scott Westerfeld! (His brain is a machine for turning coffee into NYTimes Bestsellers! Sorry, had to have the SY reference.)
Booklist:
-UGLIES Trilogy (Uglies, Pretties, and Specials)
A fantastic, fast-paced look into a hightech utopia future for humanity. Enter Tally Youngblood. She's almost 16, which is awesome, but not just because she gets to drive. She'll be old enough to get THE OPERATION. It makes you pretty. In other words, everyone becomes supermodel gorgeous when they turn 16. Great, huh? Of course. So Tally is counting the months, weeks, days, HOURS, until she can leave Uglyville and head for the bright lights and nonstop parties of New Pretty Town. Then she meets Shay, a girl who seems happy enough with the face she's ALWAYS had. Her UGLY face, one unaffected by surgery. The kind of face Tally just can't wait to be rid of. After all, in a world of celebrity looks, everyone normal looks ugly. Right? Of course, life for Tally Youngblood just isn't that simple. The world isn't black and white, it's painted in shades of grey.
-SO YESTERDAY (Not to be confused with Hilary Duff's mildly annoying song.)
Hunter is a Trendsetter, second level of the cool pyramid. He also gets paid fifty bucks and free merchandise to spare 'the client' a few minutes of his time, and his opinion. You see, he's a 'cool-hunter.' He looks for stuff that could become cool, stuff that people wouldn't notice on their own, then sells it to a company, and makes a profit. Life is good. Then he meets Jen, an Innovator-first level of the pyramid. Becoming friends with her pulls him into a giant plot to change modern consumerism forever. Two by two or death.
Four books! (The trilogy plus the other one.) If you do't like my reviews/summaries, please read the books anyway, because I'm not very good at making up summaries, and they're really great. ^.^
So MERRY CHRISTMAS again, and in case I don't get a chance to post for a while, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! *Zillions of New Year hugs!!!*
Sorry I hardly ever post. Wish I had holiday banners. T-T *sigh* Well, MERRY BELATED CHRISTMAS!!! (and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!)
Much love,
ashencry (aka Twix)
P.S.-The books are really great!
One more thing. If you've ever heard the carol 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' it's one of my favorite Christmas carols!
God rest ye merry gentlemen,
let nothing new dismay,
for Jesus Christ our savior
was born on Christmas Day,
to save us all from Satan's pow'r
and guide those gone astray...
******** <-Snowflakes! ^.^
